We often need to use emojis in our content, sometimes they would be wildy inappropriate but the addage that a picture speaks a thousand words is also important.
One of our more fun uses cases is when driving adoption of Jira as an agile management platform. We use Jira ourselves, provide Jira and the rest of the Atlassian suite as part of our services and mentor our customers on their adoption of Jira.
As an administrator of Jira I want to put in useful links so that I can promote digital content and the wider knowledge ecosystem.
Acceptance criteria includes the use of an emoji as an icon to give a visual aid - but what icon could I use?
Welcome to the Emojipedia a free website available at https://emojipedia.org where you can search for and explore emojis (remember the rule about only investing an appropriate amount of time in choosing).
As well as improving the digital experience and keeping the user at the heart of design there is also a serious point for us as an enterprise that promotes standards. Emogis are not just a fun thing on our phones they are part of the Unicode standards and the Emoji standard from Unicode (first published in 2015).
So whilst the Emojipedia is a bit of fun, it is also a standards based way of improving the digital experience...
